Dear CBC Family:

Our deacons and pastors met last night, along with Dr. Bob Cropsey, to update our church activities plan in light of continuing developments.

There is now a statewide suspension of K-12 schools, universities, and the Governor’s ongoing request for limiting public gatherings of 100 people or more.

As a result we have prayerfully decided to suspend all in-person services and gatherings until further notice.

Dr. Cropsey has been a part of all our conversations and he wholeheartedly endorses this decision to follow Michigan’s recommendations regarding social distancing as the wisest course of church action.

Calvary Baptist Church will be creating a livestream Sunday broadcast with Pastors Jim and Ernie in lieu of meeting in person. Details will on accessing it will be sent later.

We want to be careful not to be alarmist, but we also became more aware of the dynamics of this pandemic unfolding around us.  Two resources that became very pivotal for most of us yesterday are the following:

I wholeheartedly recommend that you take the time to read this article as well as listen to this podcast.

Our aim is to protect the vulnerable, the elderly and the ones who depend on us to defend them both in our church family as well as in our community.

The decision is not one of fear, but was made with wisdom, discernment and mindfulness.  Our prayer is that as other organizations in our community and state make similar commitments, we will see our way through this pandemic in the next couple of weeks.

We ask each of you to help us contact CBC members and attenders who may not have access to social media or email.

We commit to staying connected with you throughout this time with these emails, our livestream Sunday connection, and social media.

Thank you for your support, prayers, and understanding.

Pastor Jim
